The Cats

Gizmo: Gizmo is a black tabby with a very loud voice and a penchant for letting you know when he's unhappy. He also suffers from an inflammatory urinary tract disorder that is worse when he is stressed. This should make the car ride interesting. Hopefully, the pain medication will make him sleepy and he'll nap most of the time.

Phoenix: Phoenix is an orange tabby with a softer voice, but he can still get pretty insistent when he's unhappy. Luckily, he usually settles down in the car after a while as long as he can see out. The large cage we've gotten to keep both cats in for the trip has plenty of visibility, so we hope the view will keep him happy when he's not sleeping.
The Car
The car is a 95 Subaru Legacy wagon, sometimes affectionately referred to as "Esme". The cats will be housed in a cage which fills the back seat and will contain a cushion or two, food and water, and a small litter box. A blanket will be thrown over the cage to give the cats shade when it is needed.

Us

Rachel: My wife. (She's the one on the right in the above picture.)
Scott: That's me. (On the left above.)
The trip begins July 31. We'll only be driving as far as the Tri-Cities that day, but for the next several days after that we'll be driving somewhere between 500 and 600 miles a day. I hope to update this blog each night during the trip. We'll see if I can actually do that or not.

Shouldn't the last set of players be named the crazed people? For the sake of alliteration, if not (hopefully) fact.
Could be. We will certainly be crazed during the drive across the continent. I'll let you make your own judgment about the rest of the time.
Haha ...I love how you clarified who was who in the picture;) Good luck Scott ...it was great playing hockey with you while it lasted!
